Timing is everything

As someone in their 40's, it is true that time passes much more quickly as you get older.  Even though we're all blessed (or cursed) with 24 hours every day and 7 days each week, I have found the pace by which each minute or hour or day or week passes seems to acclerate as I have gotten older.  I don't try to attribute it to a watch gone haywire but instead to the frantic pace of a marriage and family and job and (sometimes) hobbies that all pile on each other in demands for my time.  While trying to keep all of those constituents "happy" (a grossly subjective term), the day just flies away.  The bad news is that I have never accomplished everything I had intended at the end of the day, which further compounds the issue the following day.

The good news is that I have experience and context now that helps me recognize this and thus have learned to accept my fate of a never ending to-do list and the inability to maintain my focus from seemingly minute-by-minute interruptions.

 

The better news is that the alternative to time moving on is not desireable, so I can put up my personal disappointment of not achieving my goals and just do the best I can to achieve as much as possible.  Not so much lowing my expectations but more a dose of reality.
